Earth day April 22, 2020

Some of you may know that today is Earth day. In honor of that we watched two PBS videos about Earth day, what it means and what we can do to help keep the earth safe, clean & healthy. We looked up photos of the Earth and I explained how it rotates from night to day and how all the blue that they can see on Earth is water. We also looked up all the planets and the Moon. I printed off green Earth papers and we did a little hand painting in blue to represent all the water that earth has. I think they came out great and the kids learned a lot.

Daycare Halloween Party 2016

Our Halloween party:

We had our annual Halloween party this week.

 

My daughter, her friend and I decorated the entire room with lights on every wall and staircase, light up rope lights, strings of pumpkins, ghosts, witches, blow ups, fog machine ,lanterns and so so much more. The kids loved it. I tried to capture pictures of the room but they don’t show the real effects.

 

We had Elsa, A Penguin, Raggedy Ann, a Lion, A skeleton, Mickey Mouse and Iron Man. I was a Purple Witch.  We ate great treats, thank you parents, we did crafts, (we didn’t have time to do all the crafts I had planned). Then we had music and dancing and just movement. At the end of the party I gave each child a special Trick or treat back that I picked for then specifically. We have Paw Patrol, My little Pony, Spiderman, Star wars and Hello Kitty, each with a goodie bag inside. My youngest two are too young to know what was going on, but did get something as well.

CHRISTMAS PARTY 2015

Today was our Daycare Christmas Party. We were super busy the entire time. We did a ton of crafts, ate, had pictures taken, opened presents, had balloon games, went outside to get some energy out and more.  I am glad I had my two teenage “Reindeer” helping with things.

Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, loved their gift swap and just straight out enjoyed the day.

No School/ PaJama Day/ Veteran’s Day

Today was a great day here at Lil’ Caboose.  It was a no School day, which generally means, PAJAMA DAY!!!!!

It was a nonstop, fun activity day.  There was dancing, the kids painted wonderful pictures, using their imaginations. They also played a large variety of games, such as- don’t spill the beans, cooties, hot potato, bendaroos and many more. We even had a breakfast pic nic on the mats in the Daycare room.

Since tomorrow is a day to celebrate our much appreciated Veteran’s, I read a kids version of what Veteran’s day is all about.  Then I put it into words that the kids could understand. I have a child in my care that was affected, sadly, due to a tragedy to a relative in their family, a Veteran.  This child mentioned it several times during our discussion, so we talked about it and they shared with the other children how they was affected.  After which we colored an American Flag as well as a Soldier.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Just two here after the bus his morning.  “K” continued in her workbook.  She completed yet another section, Numbers, and got her Certificate.  She wanted to feed the baby, and she did a great job.  They are really good together, “K” is a huge helper and she really enjoys it. For a craft “K” painted the rim of a paper plate Green (I cut out the middle)  and I printed off a Shamrock. Once the paint had dried, we attached the shamrock to the rim with hot glue and a popsicle stick to make a hat. While we played in the Daycare room, “K” fed our pet fish (2), we did some reading, music and rearranging. You will see her doing “head, shoulders, knees and toes”.  She really loves the 1×1 time. We had a lot of fun with lunch.  “K” mixed up some eggs and some pancakes, but then she added the secret ingredient for St. Patrick’d day, green food coloring.  She kept telling me how delicious they were, even green.  Once “J” and “A” arrived after school (“L” was sick) there was even more playing in the Daycare room. They used baby dolls, Kitchen, blocks, puzzles and so much more.  I am adding some new electronics, so there will be some more rearranging..    Enjoy the photos. On a separate note: We will be having a 4 year old boy joining us, Full-time, in a few weeks.  “K” is very excited, as am I.  His new Brother or Sister will join us in the Fall.

    

Practicing Lines/Christmas Tree/Snow man

“S” and “K” practiced tracing different types, and shapes of lines.  It is a great fine motor skill and age appropriate.  They each also traced a Christmas tree (Dot to Dot), and colored the bulbs on the tree. For a craft we made paper Snowmen.  The kids enjoyed practicing using scissors and really enjoy using GLUE.  Next, we went to the play room where theres was a lot of  baby doll play, and little home maker. As well as building blocks, Animals and so much more.  We read a few books and played our music CDs and danced.

VALENTINE’S PARTY

Oh where to begin, we were SO busy all day.  JW headed off to school and E, JP, & K and I got busy.  We started off by making brownies together, making crafts, having yummy snacks, playing lots of games (throw the ball through the heart, Duck, Duck, Goose, Musical chairs etc), practicing the letter “H” for “H”heart, more games, crafts, fun. For lunch I made Homemade waffles in the shape of hearts and made a Strawberry puree’ to put on them.  Once JW arrived from school, we had lunch, and played a lot of the same games again and it was his turn to do some crafts too. Sorry parents of E, JP and K you will see a heart craft the kids made, but they wanted to give it to me. I was touched, I never get the crafts, they always go home with the kids.  We all opened our Valentine’s and the kids got their gifts from me (Red bags)  And that was all before rest time.

I would like to thank every parent for helping out with the wonderful treats, they are truly appreciated….

Pre-Valentine’s day party

Today we started preparing for our Valentine’s party tomorrow.  We practiced the letter “V”, they did a good job with that letter.  The kids each made their card holders for tomorrow. We used one  and a half paper plates (I stapled them together) then the kids decorated them however they chose. They used markers and stickers.  Next we made “Heart Man” using a toilet paper roll, construction paper and heart stickers, and I printed the heart head off one of my print shop programs.  They really enjoyed doing both of these projects.  I asked what game they wanted to play together and they picked Diego Memory cards.  So we set them up and played.  Then, off to the Playroom.

I don’t know about you all, but I was a bit surprised to see more snow today.  Arr, where are we going to put it all?

                    

Letters, Christmas Tree Craft and Bean Bag Toss game

Another busy morning. We started off with practicing some numbers.  The older two would pick a numbers card and whatever number was on it, we would practice writing on the dry erase boards.  Mastered “1, 4, 7”,  did pretty well with “6”,  but need more practice with “3 & 5”.   On to craft time. I cut the shape of trees out of Foam first, then the kids glued on Yellow, Red & Green buttons.  They topped off their tree decorating with glitter glue and I made a Star (Sort of) for the top.  We moved down to the playroom and played many games of Bean bag toss into the buckets.   Next was free play, outside, Lunch, more play time then rest.

    

Santa “Hands” and New Alphabet/Number Mat

We were missing “J” today.   It is getting harder to make Holiday crafts, but I saw one this morning and knew we had to do it.  I painted one hand of each child white and had them place that hand on Green construction paper. Then we glued the green paper onto white Cardstock paper (Harder paper). Next we added a hat and face. Now each child has a homemade Christmas Card of their own hand, made into Santa. I hope you enjoy them.  Then we moved onto games, playing and learning.  I got a new Alphabet/Numbers mat for the Daycare playroom and the kids LOVE it. We made a game out of learning our ABC’s and numbers with it today. “E”  did a great job  with his alphabet and numbers, hopping to each square. “K” does a great job saying the alphabet out loud too.  Then, I had gotten some additional play food, so we had a huge feast on the new mat as well. Lots of time cooking the new foods too.  Then lunch , outside and rest.  More playing after rest. Another great day!
