We were outside playing the entire morning. The kids did not want to come in. The sun was nice and bright, the weather was farely warm so they just kept on playing. They did want to go sledding, and I tried to tell them that this isn’t the right snow for it, but they really wanted to go. Each child took one turn down my hill and decided that was enough, K went into the woods, as you will see. In turn she got to ride in the sled on the way back up. The snow was hard and very deep. They all went down the slides, tried to make snow angels (that didn’t work so well), jumped off the picnic table into the snow, we even took a nature walk. They wanted to go to their “Secret” fort, which is the area of trees in the middle of the circle as you approach my house. You will also see where they are looking into the play room from outside (EMERGENCY EXIT) and also took a rest in the shade laying down. There wasn’t much time before lunch when we finally did come in, so we went to the play room where they played dress up, did puzzles and played a game before lunch.
YAY, we got to go outside and play today. It was great. But before we went out “E” and “K” practiced their letters on the Magna doodle, “E” is doing really well getting ready for school. Then we took large pieces of paper, and three bowls of different sizes. “K” and “E” were the only ones here this morning, so they each took turns tracing each bowl to make a snowman. They really enjoyed being so independent and tracing the bowls themselves (I made the hat). The snowmen came out wonderful and the kids were so proud. Should have seen the look on their faces when I told them to get dressed to go outside. Seems like it has been so long, with the cold weather. Outside was climbing, building, playing AND sledding. Only one furry friend outside with us today, Molly, which “K” loved to keep covering in snow. We were out for quite awhile, but then back in to make lunch and wait for “JW” to arrive off the bus.
I APOLOGIZE AHEAD OF TIME FOR THE LENGTH OF THIS BLOG. IT WAS JUST SUCH A GREAT DAY.. Another busy day here. JP was a bit late this morning so I worked on letters with K and E. I scrambled up all the letters and the kids had to listen to me (I would say the letter and the color of the letter if needed) and choose the correct letter to create the Alphabet in order. We did this several times, then they each made their name with the letters. We moved over to crafts and made a snowflake out of cotton swaps and glue on blue background paper. Then came our science experiment. Each child started with a bottle of water and a spot of dish detergent. The kids added food coloring and glitter to their bottles and shook them. After the bubbles settled we could see all the different colors of glitter on the sides of the bottles (I think I added a bit too much soap to a bottle or two). THEN came the “Surprise”, we went outside to go sledding down my back hill. The all had a BLAST!! As you will notice in the pictures we had some furry guests outside with us, my dogs. The kids had fun playing with them and you will see that the dogs are waiting by the pic nic table to catch the snow that the girls were throwing to them. When we came back inside the request was made for hot cocoa. JW joined us after school, about Lunch time. After lunch we went to the play room. The kids wanted to show JW “Our Daycare” song, as the kids call it (A fast version of 5 Little Monkeys). So they all danced to that. Then I broke out the puzzles and EVERYONE wanted to do them, I was thrilled.. I was so excited that they all wanted to do them at the same time, and for quite a while too. They did such a great job with them too. Then rest and back outside for more sledding, snowball fighting and snowman building (Camera died). Today was just such an exceptionally great day for me!!!
