“G” Goose/Goat- Outside fun

Today during the “Structured” part of Pre-School, we worked on the color Blue, and the letter “G”, Goose and Goat. The craft was a Goat. We spent most of the day outside playing and learning. A few of the kids especially liked to rake, then jump in the pile, as well as take down the Halloween decorations. There was also a fort that got a lot of attention. And so much more.

Another great day at Lil’ Caboose. Enjoy the photos. Please feel free to leave a comment, either here or on the post on Facebook. I love to read them.

Fun, even on a rainy day!!

This rain has been crazy! But we always find lots of fun inside to do.  The play room has been used more this week alone, then it has in the past several months. The two toddlers appear to have picked up on the “Letter” books.  Advanced? I think so, haha.  There was lots of kitchen play, and weeble playing too. My female toddler has picked up a new fun thing. She drags the chairs from one side of the room to the other, plays with them and moves them back.  The older and younger kids also had  lots of Barbie play.  My littlest one did what most little ones do all day. I did some tummy time with him and some reaching exercises.

Outside play/soccer/slides/tunnel and more

What a nice day to be outside. It was a bit chilly at first, then got really nice. Gave us plenty of time to do a lot of activities.  The two little ones “shared” many toys, like the Cozy Coupe, the slide, the tunnel etc.  Big brother took his little brother for a walk down the driveway, which he loved doing. He also practiced his horseshoe toss. The younger kids practiced their ring toss (or placing the rings on the poles). When the older kids arrived off the bus there was some sandbox play and then my daughter taught them some Soccer moves. Of course kicking the ball was the favorite part, but goalie was a close second.  They even had their own cheering section, until she got too occupied with her apple.  I have a ride on snail, but one of my little ones decided she wanted to carry it around the yard instead.  One of my other litle ones prefered to play with the wood chips under the slide/swings.  We even fit in a wildness walk.

“K”- Name practice/Crafts-Ghosts and Spider/Coloring page

Today I printed “K”s name in boxes again and had her practice each letter in a box.  She did really well and is getting better each time she practices.  She also did a Frankenstein coloring page.  For crafts today I traced her hands and feet then cut them out.  We used her hands to make a Spider and she glued it onto a web that I printed.  We used her feet to make Ghosts and she glued them onto black paper.  After pre-school we went outside to play for awhile. Then down to the play room. In the afternoon we were back outside playing and the other kids came from school and joined us.  I have not been able to take as many pictures as I am used to, or that I would like to as my camera has been acting up.  I need to have it looked at.

“K”=Pre school/NAME/PUZZLES/BOOKS/MUSIC/ALPHABET

I currently only have on pre-school age child in the Daycare. But that doesn’t stop us from still doing our pre-school learning.  Today “K” worked on her name some more, which we will continue with.  She also did some “beginner word” puzzles, which she loved doing. She learned how to “Sew” like Mimi, when we laced up a cardstock Ghost.  I printed a ghost, cut it out, used a hole punch (all I had was a 3 hole punch so some of the holes didn’t come out so well), tied a knot in one end of a piece of yarn and put a piece of tape on the other end of the tape so it was easier to thread through the holes. “K” laced up each hole, over and under.  We did circle time with some books, I believe we read 7 in total. Then sang several pre-school aged songs. “K” wanted to play with the block letters so we layed them on the floor and I named off each letter while “K” lined them up and connected them.  She did really well at recognizing most of the letters.  Once we were done it was game and play time.  And that continued once the older kids got off the bus.

Letter “N”/Nest/Word Search/Painting Fall color Leaves

In pre-school today we worked on the letter “Nn”.  They did the “Nn” worksheet then I tricked them by finding and printing an “N”  word search for pre-school. They did well for their first time. They actually asked to do more of those in the future.  The word searches will become easier as they learn what they are looking for.   I had them started by putting a circle around the first “N” they saw.  Next they looked at the four words they had to choose from (That they were looking for).  I had them look forward or down only for any of the next letters (The Word search only did the words down or forward).  The first word they found want “Nest” then Nurse, numbers and Nine, which one child found all by them self.  We also did a Nest cut and past craft. Next was a craft idea I got from another site “Teach Pre school”.  The children on that site were painting with cotton balls and a clothespin.  So I got out the Autumn/Fall paint colors and printed off some blank leaves.  We also got out the cotton balls, Q-tips and clothespins. They children used the clothespin to pick up the cotton ball, dip it in the paint then paint their leaves.  They also used the Q-tip for stems and some leaves.  Next came outside time and you can see some of the activities the kids did before lunch and school.  It is great to see them using the climbers so much again, they weren’t a big hit in the Summer.  After school we stayed in the Play room for awhile, since the kids said it was too cold out for them, then did end up going outside to play.  It was windy.

I included pictures of the collages I made and hope to hang them in the Play room. They are an assortment of pictures of many of the activities we have done. I think they came out really well. Some of the spare pictures I added magnets to the corners and they are on the new cabinets. What new cabinets you ask?  Some of you got to see the new file cabinets I added to my Dining room. I promised my husband when I began Daycare that I would not let it take over our “Living” space. Well, if you see the size of these new cabinets, I think I breached that promise a little.  A lot of storage space now though.

Colorful Trees

We played outside for a bit this morning. Then we did our craft.  I did my best to cut out what resembles a tree.  Then I cut colored construction paper into small squares. The children then each pasted their tree onto a green piece of paper and also pasted the square color pieces as leaves.  They love using glue sticks here.  After our craft we just had some fun in the playroom.  Will go out again later.

“My Hands and Feet” Turkeys

We are inside on this cold and blustery day.  First day of Snow this year.   We made Turkeys from cut outs of the kids hands and feet, that I had traced.  The two feet became the turkey body and the four different colors of the kids hands became the feathers.  Once the body and feathers were glued together we added a face.  The kids really enjoyed seeing their hands become Turkey feathers.  They all did a wonderful job while I was tracing their hands and feet too. We are missing “M” again, who is still sick.  But we had “E”, “J” and “G” (who is Camera shy) here.

Making Scarecrow Puppets

We were missing our youngest member today, “M” stayed home sick.  We hope he feels better.   Today we could not decide what we wanted to do for a “Fall” craft, until I came across these paper bag Scarecrows. It was a template off of DLTK kidz website.  I printed the two templates for each child and they did their best to cut out the pieces (with help).  I gave them each a paper bag and the pasting began.  Every piece of the scarecrow was pasted onto the paper bag/Puppet.  The kids enjoyed playing with their puppets once the glue had dried.

Paper Plate Pumpkins,Practicing A B and C and kids Fort

We took paper plates, turned them over and painted the entire plate Orange.  While those were drying we did our educational work.  As you will see we reviewed A, B & C.  At one point the kids were standing/sitting around so we started to sing songs. Once our learning lesson was done, the kids asked me to make a fort. I took a blanket and put it over three objects. They loved it and it was simple for me.  After lunch we went back to the dried pumpkin plates and added faces and stems.  The older kids wanted my help, while the two younger kids  just wanted to do it themselves.  (As always to enlarge a pictures, just click on it) Hope you enjoy..
