No School day… Tons of fun March 13 2015

I tried something a bit different this morning. The kids were all hyped up so we all sat down on the mat and for about 10 minutes we practice deep breathing. The kids said it helped, but only they know.  Then AB and JP decided to do some push ups and one legged stands. Next we sat down and made “Veggie” masks. The kids loved those, almost as much as coloring some “Frozen & Princess” pictures. They were pretty proud of those, and should be.  I worked 1×1 with CS on fine motor skills of holding a pencil/marker.  If that wasn’t enough fun, the fort building began, and finished. CS was the first to check it out. He took off through all the curves inside.  Then it was “make your own pizza” time. Who knew the kids would get so excited about this project? After lunch we headed back down to the Daycare room so that the kids could all check out the fort. They just sat inside for about the first 30 minutes. I think it got a bit cramped after that.  And there were the normal, everyday things: Barbies, peek a boo with CS, kissing the baby, Army figures and silly faces.

Another great day.  Enjoy the photos.

February School Vacation Wednesday 18th 2015

Today was filled with lots of fun. My daughters joined the Daycare for awhile to play games with the kids. My oldest daughter gave airplane rides with her knees and feet. She also did a “hair Salon” and a Disney music dance party.  My younger daughter was a “Teacher” and did really well helping the kids with letters and counting.  She also played barbies and house with the kids for some time. The kids love it when they come down. A variety of toys/items were used, as well, today.  Quite a bit of imaginary play went on.

Another great day. Enjoy the pictures. Some really cute ones.

Beautiful day to play outside

It was such a beautiful day today. Except for lunch and naps/rest we were outside. The littlest two had a very active day. They were everywhere.  Sand box, pool and water table.  Also, today they could not get enough of the playhouse. They even used the tunnel several times. The older kids enjoyed the swings, sandbox, singing and much more. We had some visitors so they kids had more people to play with. Hope you enjoy the picturs. Feel free to comment. Library/Outside/Playroom

Today we did not work in “K”s workbook (not that we do every day anyway) but I decided to take her and the baby to the Baxter Memorial Library for Pre school reading and activities. Both kids had lots of fun.  The baby crawled everywhere and “K” participated in the reading, singing, body movement and craft with the other Pre School children that are brought there.  She really worked on her Social skills, which is very important at her age, as all or most of you know.  Today’s books were about Lions, so the craft was a Lion hand puppet. We also played with some toys, read some books ourselves and played with the dolls (babies).  And, today was a special treat, they had a sort of scavenger treat. You had to find the poster  1 – 12 and do what the poster said on it. For example, “Roar as loud as you can”, “Stretch on your tippie toes and stretch, but do not fall over”, “Find the Lion’s paw prints”, “Find certain books and dust them”and so on.  When we arrived back at Daycare we played outside for a bit. The fresh air was good and it really didn’t feel that cold out. When “J” and “A” arrived from school we had some more fun in the playroom. They were princesses, cooks, readers, spinners and more.  Another great day! Enjoy the pictures.

Library/Outside Play

Today was Preschoool time at the Baxter Library.  The girls had a BLAST  and the baby was very entertained. They worked on fine motor skills, with crayons and scissors, as well as gross motor skills using balloons-passing them, throwing them in the air, patting them with their hands etc.  The stories today were about elephants, so they all pretended to be elephants and sang the elephant songs. Then each child colored a picture and also made an elephant craft.  After the organized activities and story, the girls played with the babies, Trains, read books and more.  When we got back to Daycare we danced and played, lunch and rest. Once the kids arrived from school we played outside for quite some time. We even took a walk. Another great day here!!

“K”=Pre school/NAME/PUZZLES/BOOKS/MUSIC/ALPHABET

I currently only have on pre-school age child in the Daycare. But that doesn’t stop us from still doing our pre-school learning.  Today “K” worked on her name some more, which we will continue with.  She also did some “beginner word” puzzles, which she loved doing. She learned how to “Sew” like Mimi, when we laced up a cardstock Ghost.  I printed a ghost, cut it out, used a hole punch (all I had was a 3 hole punch so some of the holes didn’t come out so well), tied a knot in one end of a piece of yarn and put a piece of tape on the other end of the tape so it was easier to thread through the holes. “K” laced up each hole, over and under.  We did circle time with some books, I believe we read 7 in total. Then sang several pre-school aged songs. “K” wanted to play with the block letters so we layed them on the floor and I named off each letter while “K” lined them up and connected them.  She did really well at recognizing most of the letters.  Once we were done it was game and play time.  And that continued once the older kids got off the bus.

Songs, playing outside

When we first went outside I had a song in my head that I knew as a child.  I ended up singing it and the girls loved it.  They kept asking me to sing it again and again and to teach them. So I decided that we would sing a bunch of songs and see how far we got as far as learning them. By the way, the song that was in my head was “Little Bunny foo foo” you will see them learning it at the picnic table. Also, Head, shoulders, knees and toes was another you will notice as they were on the grass.  Once we did songs for about 45 minutes it was free fun play time.  And fun they all had. Riding bikes/cars, swinging, sandbox, Playhouse, kitchen etc, etc. And look who is on the BIG swing, “M”!!  Not for too long as you can see he showed me that he wanted to get in the smaller swing, which I moved him to.  Lunch and back outside.  Then in for naps.   I somehow took 91 pictures so I need to weed some out before I post them (Then I will post more than I planned to anyway) there are just so many cute ones..
