Today I had one of my before and after school kids all day. So, getting my days mixed up, I told them we could go to the Kiddie GYM. Well, I remembered it was Tuesday when we got there and there was no Kiddies there, because Kiddie GYM is Wednesday and Friday. But, I did remember that Tuesday and Thursdays is story and craft time at the Library, and even better, it is next to the GYM. So that is where we went instead. The books were about Valentine’s and hearts. The craft was a Lollipop/Butterfly Valentine. The lollipops however, did not make it back to my house. The girls also did puzzles, we read books, played with the babies, trains and more. Another great day! Enjoy the pictures.
Head First Finding the big trampoline Throwing Snow Snow Angels
We were outside playing the entire morning. The kids did not want to come in. The sun was nice and bright, the weather was farely warm so they just kept on playing. They did want to go sledding, and I tried to tell them that this isn’t the right snow for it, but they really wanted to go. Each child took one turn down my hill and decided that was enough, K went into the woods, as you will see. In turn she got to ride in the sled on the way back up. The snow was hard and very deep. They all went down the slides, tried to make snow angels (that didn’t work so well), jumped off the picnic table into the snow, we even took a nature walk. They wanted to go to their “Secret” fort, which is the area of trees in the middle of the circle as you approach my house. You will also see where they are looking into the play room from outside (EMERGENCY EXIT) and also took a rest in the shade laying down. There wasn’t much time before lunch when we finally did come in, so we went to the play room where they played dress up, did puzzles and played a game before lunch.
K really did bend her knees and jumped.
We had a very busy day today. We started off by me tracing each child’s body on a large piece of paper. Each child colored their face and clothes on the body and then I cut them out. They really liked doing that. Next, since we did’t go outside in the cold, cold weather, and while we were waiting for our guest to arrive, we played some active games. We played two body parts songs to go along with the bodies we traced, and made the movements to them “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” and one you may not know “Toe Knee Chest nut” (Tony Chestnut). The kids giggles their way through Tony Chestnut, it is a really funny song. They also ran in circles trying to make themselves dizzy and we played musical chairs etc. The kids saw the magnetic cookie sheets that I had written the alphabet and numbers on, and the magnets next, so we played with those. Our guest, the Librarian, arrived. She had three snow related books for us today and all three kids, “K” JP” and “E” participated and had a great time. She read the books to us as well as us all singing the Alphabet song and Old McDonald. The three kids did a great job. There was one book whose character happened to be named Nancy and her brother Jack (which I have a brother Jack too). “K” was so confused and excited. Each time the name Nancy was read from the book she pointed to me and said “Hey, that’s you!!” or some other comment. It was quite funny. Another great day!!
