Pre-Valentine’s day party

Today we started preparing for our Valentine’s party tomorrow.  We practiced the letter “V”, they did a good job with that letter.  The kids each made their card holders for tomorrow. We used one  and a half paper plates (I stapled them together) then the kids decorated them however they chose. They used markers and stickers.  Next we made “Heart Man” using a toilet paper roll, construction paper and heart stickers, and I printed the heart head off one of my print shop programs.  They really enjoyed doing both of these projects.  I asked what game they wanted to play together and they picked Diego Memory cards.  So we set them up and played.  Then, off to the Playroom.

I don’t know about you all, but I was a bit surprised to see more snow today.  Arr, where are we going to put it all?

Valentines/PJ Party

Today we had our Valentine’s party and everyone wore their PJs, including me.  We played and we all danced and acted silly with the music (actually it was to the Wii game “Just dance”).  We also made several crafts.  The kids  decorated a craft Heart and a door hanger with their picture on it.  Then I had them each use a laminating pouch and place red and pink squares of tissue paper inside.  Then I ran it through the laminater and cut them out in the shape of a heart.  These look great as sun catchers (I believe I have a hole punch if you want to punch a hole in the top).  We played toss with the bean bags, which didn’t go as planned, as you will see, ha ha.  We had the Movie Shrek the 3rd as well and ate a different type of popcorn, with no kernels.  Naturally we also opened our Valentine cards.

We had pizza for lunch with punch, cookies,  and other sweets and treats.  A huge Thank you to the parents that helped me out with the food and treats.  And it goes without saying that I took too many pictures to post on the BLOG, again.  And now I am exhausted,  phew!

Our Valentine Holders and Flash Card Game

Today we made our Valentine Envelopes for our party tomorrow (To hold our Valentine’s).  As you know we are having our party one day late in order to include everyone (Don’t forget your PJ’s)..  I started with pieces of color construction paper, cut them into circles.  Then I cut paper plates in half to make the actual envelope part. The kids first wanted to decorate their holders then put them together.  They did some coloring and put some Valentine stickers on them.  Then we staples the half paper plate to the color paper and there we have our Valentine’s envelopes for our party and PJ day tomorrow.  I put their names on them after the picture was taken and posted, as not to post their names on here.

Then we played a game of finding the right Flash Card picture.  I only had three little ones here at the time, and they had a great time.  They got so excited when they found the correct card.  Once they found the card we went over what the letter and sound was.

Heart Collage

Today I had a small group. Again we worked on something Valentines related.  I cut up many different colors of contruction paper into the shape of hearts. Each child got a piece of Card stock and a glue stick. I told them that they could use as many heart as they wanted to create a picture of any kind. So they went right into glueing and pasting.  Kids sure love glue sticks.

Heart Painting

2 of 2 Posts for today.

Today for a craft, as we are coming up on Valentines day, I took some toilet paper rolls and bent them into the shape of hearts. Then I put three different paints on paper plates (Fusia, Red and I made pink).  Each child was given a piece of card stock and I put the paints and hearts on the table.  The three I had this morning (two more in a bit) took turns and did really well sharing the paint plates.  They enjoyed dipping the rolls in the paint then seeing how it looked on their paper when they pressed it down.
