Finger Painting/Cooking/Nursery Rhymes/Gross Motor skills
We had fun again today. Started off with using finger paints to make a picture of anything the kids wanted. One child said they had never used finger paint before so wasn’t sure what to do with it. Once they got started this child caught on quick. We went through how certain colors mixed together make other colors. The kids didn’t quite remember that finger paints were meant to get your hands all messy, so they were going easy, but that didn’t last long as you will see. I showed them that once their paper was covered in paint that they could use their fingers to make pictures, so I made their names, they loved that part. This went on for quite awhile. In the end the papers all pretty much had the same color painting. Next my daughter, who was home today, got out all the materials needed for the children to make brownies. They felt so grown up cooking our afternoon snack (with little help). While the Brownies were cooking (and beyond) we moved down to the play room and did some dancing, singing and computer games. We also did many Nursery rhymes that required following the movements on the computer (wheels on the bus, London Bridges, Hokey Pokey etc). We also did some gross motor skill games as well (Frog Jumper for instance).
