I decided to take the kids on another Field Trip today, since I had a small group of 4. We went to Fort Williams/Portland Head Light. All for kids, even the baby, had a blast on the beach, in the water, The older kids loved seeing, touching rocks and climbing old Forts. It was a walking History lesson for them as well. “A” had a lot of questions about Cannons. She wanted to know how big a cannon ball was. So I took her to the information booth and to our surprise he had one hanging right there. “J” had more questions about the big bells. They could not believe how big a light house is up close. They were both interested to hear about the wars and what occurred there, and the fact that they got to go into these forts. We even got a visit from the LL Bean Boot.. We picked up lunch and had a pic nic and no field trip to South Portland is complete without a stop at Red’s Dairy, they had no idea. It was a wonderful day.. Enjoy all the pictures. See the connon ball top right. LL Bean boot Fenced off Forts

Today I took the Daycare children, as well as my daughters, on a Field trip. We went to Range Pond in Poland. We all had a great time. There was a lot of swimming, mostly. Then there was shell and rock collecting. We went on a walk and played at the playground. The baby enjoyed playing with the sand toys but loved the water even more. As you will see, we were visited by a friend, a Seagull, looking for some food. The baby even managed to get a nap in. Everyone was pretty exhausted when we left, but not too tired for Ice cream. Another awesome day!!
Enjoy the pictures… I am sure there are even more pictures, but you would not even believe the hard time I had getting them from my phone to the computer then uploaded.
A day behind again. Not enough hours in a day.
It was a little chilly on and off Wednesday, but we remained outside doing many different activities. As you can see there was bike riding, sandbox play, bounce house, a few games of tag and much more. One of my little ones wanted to climb up the slide, to no avail. My other little one, CT, was very happy to be in the swing and playing on the grass. We took a Nature walk to the pond where the kids like to throw small stones and watch them splash when they hit the water. The two little ones were worn out by the time we got back from our walk, as you can see. Another great day! Enjoy the pictures.
Another beautiful day, got chilly come later in the day, but we remained outdoors having lots of fun. The kids I had with me this morning rode the bikes quite a bit today and, again, as they would ride around, they would stop at me and I would ask a question. I asked mostly Math questions, but also shapes , colors and other types of questions. They played tag, swings, sandbox, climbers, the seesaw and much more. We also have a new addition to our Daycare family. An infant boy, CS. Welcome CS, I am pleased to have you here.
Once the school kids arrived we continued playing outside. Many of the same activities we did in the morning. Another fun filled day. Enjoy the pictures.
Today was beautiful out. We spent much of the day out there. We also started a new “Story Board”. What that is is a Velcro board with several different activities squares. When we do something such as reading, we place the “Reading” square on the board. I don’t have a square for every activity we do, but I use what I do have. Below you will see a picture of “K”s Story board for today. The baby had her first day in the outside swing and LOVED it. Once the kids arrived after school we remained outside and the kids were thrilled that we had very little snow left in our play yard. There was so much wonderful imaginary play. “J” lost another tooth today. You will see her showing me, then “A”. Another great day. Enjoy the pictures.
Happy Monday. Had my three little ones all day until the rest arrived after School. We had a very busy, very fun day. I wanted to change things up from concentrating on just the letters because there are so many other skills to be learned as well. “K” and “S” and I started off using the Practice dolls that help children to learn, buttoning, snapping, zipping and more. From there we moved onto Pre-school worksheets. We discussed colors and shapes, then the kids had to match one side to the other side of the sheet. The next sheet we worked on was words that sound the same. I constantly rhyme words and names through the day, but we had never done it on paper. The final sheet was a winter maze, which is always a hit. Next we played a few games of “Food and exercise” BINGO. The girls were so excited whenever they got a match. We tried a new recipe for Play doh, but ours came out rather sticky, as you will see. The the girls wanted to play with the floral beads, but that didn’t last too long. So off to the Play room where they were pleasantly surprised to see a play tent set up (I took the climber down), they spend a lot of the day in that tent, using their great imaginations. A couple of the other kids joined us after the bus, not all of them today. They also were happy with the tent. We ended the day with a couple games of “Penguin Pat”, a fun game.
